Munggo (With Tinapa)
Ingredients :
1 cup green mongo beans
6 cups water (for boiling mongo)
1 cup sili leaves
3 cloves garlic, crushed
1 piece onion, sliced
3 tomatoes,chopped
¼ k pork (pang-gisa), sliced into small strips, [marinated in a small amount of soy sauce
(around 2 tsp) – optional – its ok not to marinate the pork, but it adds to taste]
1/2 cup tinapa (crushed, remove tinik)
1 cup chicharon
½ cup shrimps, peeled & sliced (optional)
2 tbsp patis
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp cooking oil
6 cups water or chicken broth – made from the boiling a small piece of chicken
1 tsp sugar (optional*)

- Boil mongo until soft. Mash boiled mongo. Set aside.
- Fry garlic in cooking oil until brownish. Saute with onion and tomatoes.
- Add the marinated pork & cook for 2-3 mins. Drop the shrimps & tinapa. Add patis. Continue to saute until shrimps and tinapa are cooked.
- Add the soft & mashed mongo. Mix well. Cook for a few minutes.
- Pour the water or chicken broth and simmer until boiling. Season with salt and sugar*.
- Taste and add seasoning as needed.
- Add the chicharon and sili leaves and continue simmering for another minute.
- Remove from fire.
